As American as Apple Pie and Bowling

I don't care what foodgawker anyone says, that's the money shot right there baby! Whoever decided to put ice cream on top of apple pie in the first place was a genius!
I'd never made a lattice top before, it's pretty fun. Pre-made store bought dough of course.
This recipe came from All Recipes. It ranked high on the yummy level, but it was very juicy! What causes that? And how does one keep it from happening? I need answers here, people!
.
In other news....some kids I know got to go bowling today. Check that form! Four dollars and fifty cents to rent shoes that have been worn more than I care to think about. Highway robbery, I tell ya!

Mmmmmmmm.....

Mix some flour in with your filling to make it less juicy. My mom makes the best apple pie. I posted her recipe on my blog, except swapped out some of the fruit. Just use 10 or so apples in place of all the other fruit if you want a pure apple pie. Or use the recipe you have, just experiment with adding 1/4 to 1/2 cup flour mixed in with the apple filling (I try to let it sit for 15-30 minutes or so before putting it in the pie crust...the filling all kind of goo's together ;).

Is there anything better than experimenting with pies???

Oh, the recipe: http://whatacard.blogspot.com/2008/03/apple-peach-blueberry-pie.html

And how funny...I was just thinking of taking my kids bowling for the first time! That sounds like fun, you know, besides the rented shoes!

Mmm. Apple Pie! I have never made an Apple Pie before. I should give it a shot. And, I'm with you, the ice cream definitely belongs right on top just like that!

Thanks for the recipe! I was thinking more flour might be the trick.

Love the lattice work! I usually take the easy way out and do a crumb top instead. Maybe I'll give it a try. And yes, flour will help with the juices.

I'll take just a small piece please :-)

I don't care that much for apple pie - make me a lemon meringue one please. And I'll tell Foodgawker to suck it.

You could try ground almonds instead of flour to soak up some of the juice.

Oh yum. I think I would use some flour to cut down on the juice. Love the ice cream on there.

Apple pie is one of my favorite kinds of pie. I think the juiciness is from the type of apples used. I don't know.

Great job on the lattice crust!

I've heard precooking the filling helps with the wetness. Ive never tried it, though.
