I had such a nice meal planned for yesterday evening. Was gonna have tostadas with all the
trimmings and make some salsa, which is something I've never made before.
When BAM! The stinkin' electricity goes off on my whole street. I have no idea why, it wasn't storming.
Anyway, let me tell you, that totally ruined my supper plans! As we sweltered away in our hot box of a house (and later went to grandma's) dinner quickly changed from tostadas to Otter Pops and frozen bananas on a stick.
Everything got back to normal later in the evening. We got back home and got the kids to bed. But I was still thinking about my little veggies waiting for me to chop them all up and turn them into salsa.
So there I was, slicing and dicing way past my bedtime on a school night. (I followed the recipe at Fun Foods on a Budget) I supposed this might be a bit more on the Pico de Gallo order, but either way I liked it. Could have used a bit more spice, I'm always afraid to throw in too much jalapeno since I'm a huge weenie.
I took it to work to share with my co-workers just to have my Mexican friends look at me and shake their heads in shame.

Ooh that salsa looks so fresh and yummy. I am a whimp too when it comes to heat. ;)
oh! oh! i love fresh salsa! that sucks that your awesome dinner got ruined but glad that you got to make your salsa.
I love salsa too, specially for dipping of chips but what happened to you really sucks. If that happened to me I'd probably sleep and chop it up tomorrow.
Looks very fresh and colorful! I've been toning the spice down a bit later because of my daughter - she eats everything with us but can't handle too much spice yet.
Your salsa looks great. i would have gone out for Mexican food in an air conditionined restaurant ;-)
Salsa at midnight..I see nothing wrong with that. Power going out for no reason..I see a big problem with that!!!
haha! Well it looks delicious to me!
Good save! Salsa looks deeee-lish!!
What are you talking about - your salsa looks great!
Our town is finally better, but if someone sneezed our electricity would go out - on a clear blue sky day too!
I have been cooking dinner before and our tornado sirens went off and we had to go and seek shelter (we have no basement and go to our church basement). Talk about ruining a good dinner!
tee hee! I love that you always make me snicker when reading your posts :-)
pretty pico...er, salsa!
That is so frustrating about the electricity!
Your salsa looks yummy! I just preserved 38 pints today!
Wow- wonder why the electricity went out. Definetly not a fun thing on a hot night!! I think the salsa looks great...I bet it was gobbled up by everyone.
oh my goodness, it looks so fresh and colorful, love it!
The power going out or flickering is fairly common as we get a lot of storms here especially this time of year.

Out power use to go out everytime the wind blew. Salsa looks good. Hope you got to enjoy some of it anyway.

Have a good day.

No power is no fun... your salsa turned out beautiful and I am sure it was tasty. I am sure your Mexican co-workers would have liked it if they tried it.
Aww! That happened to me once when I was in the middle of cooking chicken tacos. I just threw the tacos and beans on the grill! It was really good, and we ate by flashlight!
