Onion Dip

I found this recipe at Closet Cooking, and had been looking for an opportunity to try it out. His recipe calls for vidalias but I couldn't find any, so I just used the regular yellow onions I already had. Seemed to turn out just fine. I thought it was really yummy, but I might leave the mayo out next time. Just make it all cream cheese and parmesan.
I spent this morning making another diaper cake for a friend at work. I wasn't feeling especially inspired, but had to get it done anyway, so this is what I came up with.

Randomness

This shot typifies my overall organization skills. Somewhat lacking.
I'm not even sure how this got here. Those darned kids!

I was reading someone's blog yesterday (Xazmin at This is the Year), and she showed her before and after of her cabinet, which inspired me to do this:

And this....Somewhat better...maybe? It may have helped more than anything that I combined the 5 bottles of Lawry's seasoning salt, and the 3 containers of cinnamon.
We'll see how long it lasts.
On a completely unrelated topic I made another diaper cake for a co-worker's upcoming baby shower.

I love the giant ric-rac. She seemed to like it.

I'm thinking of quitting my day job and becoming a full time cabinet organizer/diaper cake maker. Which means I'll probably need to come live with you...clear out a room!

Dinner last night...

Ravioli with Herbed Walnut Sauce found at Epicurious. Sounds much better than it is. But it was very quick...there's always something to be said for that.

That ends the randomness for now. Thanks for enduring!

Wedding Gift Apron

One of the girls at work is getting married next month and because I'm insanely cheap I wanted to give her something really special, I made an apron just for her.
She's far too young to be getting married, but as it happens, she hasn't even asked my opinion. Now that I think about it, she actually is young enough to be my daughter. You know, if I had started having kids when I was 13. *cough*

She's a tiny little thing (but packs quite a punch and seems to enjoy hitting me for some reason) so I tried to make this a little smaller than the pattern.

It's got 3 nice big pockets so after she pops out that third kid she'll have a pocket for pacifers, one for hot wheels, and one for Jonas Brothers tickets. (yeah, I know, they'll be old by then)

Snazzy Apron

Hi everyone....sorry I haven't posted in so long. Work has kind of been sucking, they've been making me...work.
I had been wanting an apron so I decided I'd try to make one. Now when I cook I can smear everything all over it and not me.

It's got cool divided pockets at the bottom to carry around all sorts of cooking instruments.

And who doesn't love ric rac??

Maybe I can start selling homemade aprons and quit my day job. Of course at the rate I go I can probably make 25 cents by Easter.

You may be wondering why I own this armless model thingy. I don't think I'm really at liberty to talk about that just yet.
