So, I've done it. I've budged the scales. (keeping one foot on the floor helps a lot when weighing, fyi) Even though I had a little soul food yesterday at Lolo's Chicken and Waffles, I still lost.
I've reached the magic number which I told myself I could have a reward when it was reached.
And guess what I'm going to treat myself with...FOOD!
I know that's all kinds of wrong, maybe I should reward myself with therapy.
Who gives a crap, let's talk about what I should make.
At first I was thinking of Julia Child's beef bourguignon even though I can't say it. It sounds pretty complicated, but looks like it would be worth it.
Then I'm also seeing recipes around for a wonderful Sunday gravy, filled with all kinds of meats and simmered for hours. I can just picture a big bowl of pasta with this sauce on top, and bunch of grated parmesan. Yum!
So those are the 2 primary contenders. So much to think about this week, how will I decide? Any thoughts?
I would treat myself to dessert hands down. Something like a hot fudge brownie sunday or fat piece of cheesecake. Yum yum
ReplyDeleteWhat is a Sunday gravy?
ReplyDeleteMy vote would be for something springy--the Julia Child BB sounds real heavy, like a winter food. Maybe something like a beef tenderloin...you could try PW's--it's supposed to be awesome!!
Or a lasagna with fresh bread. That would be awesome.
Sunday gravy this week and Beef bourguignon next. I am so not a seasonal eater...I love heavy foods year round! Both sound wonderful and with plenty of leftovers!
ReplyDeleteCongrats. I'm losing weight too and am about ready to fall off the wagon!
ReplyDeleteI am really happy for you on the weight loss! Congrats! It is so hard to do when you like to cook and eat, right? .
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking you should go for the Sunday gravy. I think it would satisfy both your meat and pasta cravings and probably make your husband happy at the same time. My husband is a total meat eater and would love all the cuts of meat in the Sunday gravy. Sounds like a great recipe. Of course, I think you should indulge in a great dessert too! Whatever you choose, I hope you enjoy it!!
Congrats on the loss! I'm always going to choose pasta if its one of the options ... especially if its topped with meaty, slowly simmered "Sunday Gravy". Go for it!
ReplyDeletewell, first time visitor, but I highly recommend the Boef Bourguignon the gravy in it is better than anything I have ever had
ReplyDeleteDo the beef Bour- whatever. If you can make it turn out, you will feel so accomplished and it will taste so good. Plus, it has wine in it and that will help you earn back the pounds you have lost.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the weight loss!
ReplyDeleteI would do something decadent like the Sunday roast...oh yeah, that is the way to go in my opinion!
Good work! I'm down a bit too. Just 10 lbs. to go...and only one month until our Florida trip...so I'll live vicariously through your splurge rather than join in your victory feast. I think that I'd go with that gravy and noodles. Maybe a little fresh parsley over the top with that freshly grated parm. I'd be in heaven. See...this is why it takes me so long. I can't stop thinking about good food...or eating it. If I could just loose those pounds, I'd be at my last pre-pregnancy weight. 9 months on...2-1/2 years off? lol. Oh well. I'm pretty sure I'll never reach the weight that I was before my first pregnancy. I don't know that I'd want to. It might look funny on my "womanly" frame now. And to think that I worried about it back then...at a size 4...is ridiculous to me.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to hear what you choose. Keep up the good work! I've lost (and gained) a lot of weight over the last 12 years (a once-upon-a-time stressful job, 4 pregnancies, and kids that love mac n' cheese and nuggets will do that) so I know how much discipline is involved. I'm proud of you!
Awesome job, Julie! You go!
ReplyDeleteKnowing me as you do I'm voting for something sweet and non chocolaty! :)

Oh my gosh go with Bouef Bourguignon!
ReplyDeleteI am saving up for my first Julia book. Way to go on the weight! Nothing like a good food fest to get you back on the wagon.
ReplyDeleteSunday gravy and pasta gets my vote! Congrats on your weight loss.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Love the cartoon of the guy standing on two scales!
ReplyDeleteI vote for the beef bourginon (too lazy to see if I spelled that right). I made Sunday gravy once and thought it was extremely greasy/fattening. BB is just delicious.
Congratulations! That's a big accomplishment. I think the Sunday gravy and pasta sounds awesome.
ReplyDeleteWow good for you- that's great! I went off sugar recently and couldn't stop thinking, "when I'm done I'm totally having a slice of cheesecake!" So silly! Your recipes look so delicious, I can't decide what to try first!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your attaining a milemarker. I know it's not easy. Takes a lot of will power (won't power!) and discipline. Awesome!
