Happy Weekend

Hello kiddies! It's been a while, I know.  I've been lurking and commenting around on your blogs some but haven't had much time to attend to my own.
This week has been one ball of stress and tension and I'm quite happy to put it behind me.  But, the good thing about stress....

Yeah, I had Haagen Dazs for breakfast one morning, and I'm glad I did!

But now, the feel of my little corner of the interwebs may change a bit.  I can no longer ignore the fact that I need this sign slapped on my ass.
It's pretty much the size of Houston.
I haven't been able to muster the willpower or enthusiasm to even try to do anything about it, considering my over-40 metabolism, and my disdain for exercise.  But I've been psyching myself up (or out) and I'm going to give it a try.

I see lots of these in my future.

Don't worry, this isn't going to become a weight loss blog.  Although I can't imagine what would be more fascinating than reading how much time I spent on the Wii Fit and how many tenths of a pound I lost in a day.  But, if I find a lighter recipe that appealed to me, I'll share it.
And I'm sure there will still be some good stuff too.  Butter and cheese make the world go around!   And, if I fall on my face I can say I tried :)

  1. Julie,
DO NOT get discouraged! You already sound a little discouraged! You CAN do it!

Thank you so much for visiting.

  6. I walk and/or exercise to work out DVDs - the best that I have are the Slim in 6 collection. I have been asked politely to not come back to some group classes at a local gym because I like to swear when I work out - because I HATE to work out!
So now I just swear at the DVDs and no one can hear me =)
Stopping by from SITS - have a great Sunday

  7. I think the most important way to go about losing weight is to still eat good food. Otherwise, it will never stick. And we all have out haagen dazs mornings. Noons. And nights.

  8. Great post, and believe me, YOU'RE NOT ALONE! Something happens to us when we hit 40. And since I'm 40 SOMETHING, my load is more than I want to be carrying to! HAHAHAHA
But you're right, butter and cheese do make the world go round. OH WAIT...and chocolate.

  9. I gained a few pounds over the winter too. I've already started eating more fruits and veggies/salads this week. But there's still room for Haagan Dazs!

  10. Good luck! I'd like to be down 10-15 lbs. by May. I've been working out a little more. Doing the Wii Fit and some exercise videos too. I had to laugh at Katie's comment. I don't necessarily swear at the videos, but I do talk back to them while I'm exercising.

As for the butter and cheese...well, everything in moderation, right? No way am I completely cutting that out...I'd rather run 5 miles a day first!

  11. I'm right there with you Julie! Believe me, I know how hard it is. I have a bad back and can't do a lot of exercising, which makes it hard to burn calories. It is a constant struggle for me. I've really been trying to pick some healthier recipes lately, but I still crave chocolate daily. Good luck to you! I know you'll find some delicious and healthy recipes. You can do it:D

  12. Gosh I am so with you girl! I am also not totally into the baking thing...finding that with just the hubby and I at home this year that salads and fresh fruits..simple fare is all we need. Of course, the weekends that the university son comes home...well that is a different story!

  13. I have dairy products for breakfast. Isn't ice cream a dairy product?

  14. A big THANK YOU for not making this a weightloss blog. As I cruise about the blogosphere I can't even begin to count the number of blogs chronicling each 1/4 lb weightloss...weightloss is a GOOD THING but doesn't make for the most interesting blogging IMHO.

Feel free to ignore the above advice ;-)

  17. Have you ever seen the Light and Tasty version of Taste and Home magazine? It's got a ton of great recipes. My mom gave me all her old ones of the past two or three years and I've been going through them all weekend. They're awesome!
