Nigella's Raspberry Cupcakes

I'm still looking for a special cupcake for a baby shower in a couple of weeks. These..aren't it.
They have a pretty good flavor but were a bit unpredictable. Below is a picture of my first batch.
Nigella told me to bake it at 180 degrees Celsius. Come on, lady, speak English!
These would probably be too raspberry-ish for some people, who may not enjoy crunching little seeds anyway. I'll probably just end up using a box mix, and maybe just decorating it with blue sprinkles like in the picture below.
Earlier in the week I received a sample of this nifty cupcake icing in a can by Betty Crocker. (she's one of my favorite people)
I was able to make this sunk in cupcake look all pretty by filling it in with icing...yum!
I'm loving this sparkle gel I found at Wal Mart.
Look how cute it looks on there. I think I'm going to use this for my son's Spongebob cupcakes next week. Or maybe as eye shadow.

  2. ooh sparkly blue eyeshadow and frosting in one- score!

I think all versions of your cupcakes look good. I stil have to post my baby shower cupcakes but they're for a girl shower so I don't think that'll help you much.

    Have a great weekend!

  3. Love the new blue eyeshadow ;D Raspberry cupcakes sound delicious, but I know what you mean about the seeds. I wonder if a seedless raspberry jam would work, maybe in the middle of the cupcake?

  4. I just love all the fancy decorative stuff we can get. Have you seen the "glitter" sugar. My favorite! A girl just can't have enough glitter in her life. Great cuppies. Have a happy Thanksgiving. N

  12. Bummer about the raspberry cupcake. I've heard people say her cupcakes are hit or miss.

If you decide to go box cake, try the Funfetti one. It's actually pretty good.

I have a giada raspberry cream cupcake recipe on my blog, that starts with a cake mix, they are yummy, and look so nice.

  14. Oooh. Sparkle gel. How fun! I bet you find the perfect cupcake before the shower. And if not, you can't go wrong with a mix. You're right, Betty Crocker rocks. : )

  15. Sorry the cupcakes didn't turn out.

I did see the cutest idea for cupcakes the other week. I was going to make them for our horse show to donate to the concession stand. But, my husband talked me into taking BBQ venison for sandwiches instead.

Instead of the bright colors, you could use the pastel food colors and I bet they would be so cute.

I'm still going to make them, probably for our riding clubs XMAS party.

  17. Stopping by from SITS and so happy I did. I'm a foodie newbie and LOVE seeing this post. There are so many blogs with all the 'easy' things, but hardly anyone shows my kind of stories. Thank You!
And, I always go back to my circa 1975 Betty C. cookbook for anything I want to turn out.

  18. I need to find that cupcake frosting. It would make making so much more enjoyable and my girls could help!

    Saying Hi from SITS!

  19. Ooooh all those cake pictures have made me hungry...and I ate my last cupcake yesterday :(
Love the sparkley icing!! I wonder if there is somewhere here in the UK I can get it! We get Betty Crocker stuff over here, but alot of it needs to be shipped over so costs a bit too much, boo!

Popped over from SITS, and leaving with a cake craving!
